Inga & Anush Arshakyans were elected to represent Armenia at Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with "Nor Par" (Jan, Jan) song.

The winners were determined through an SMS-vote on February 14 evening. New Wave (Novaya Volna) participant Mher came second. Bambir and Dorians rock groups took the third and fourth places respectively.

Eurovision is like a dinner. If you serve the guests with a traditional meal, not all will digest it. But if you represent your song with a dance show, it will be more understandable for Europe.
  Anush Arshakyan told a news conference.  

The song was composed by Mary Hakobyan, the authors of the lyrics are Avet Barseghyan and Vardan Zadoyan, arrangement was made by Ara Torosyan.

 
 

Anush Arshakyan
She was born in 1980, December 24, in Yerevan.
She learned and graduated music school after S.Aslamazyan, class of piano.
In 1994 she gained the first place and was awarded with prize from audience in “Sonorous voices” competition that took place in Omsk city. In this period she started promoting her activity as composer/author. Later on her creations had great success. As soon as she finished the music school in 1997-2001 she entered and graduated music college after A.Babajanyan in Yerevan, class of piano.
In 1999, May 16 she made her debut as a soloist together with state philharmonic orchestra and chorus of the Republic of Armenia, conductor G.Muradyan. She performed “My mother” creation after A.Berberyan. Since 2001 to 2005 Anush has learned and graduated state conservatory of Yereven after Komitas, jazz-vocal class.

Inga Arshakyan
She was born in 1982, March 18, in Yerevan. She graduated music school after S.Aslamazyan, and then entered music college after A.Babajanyan, class of violin in 1997. Parallel with her studies she was working in the ensemble of violinists after G.Achemyan. She went on tours with the ensemble to the marzes of RA.
In 1998 Inga joined her sister and together they promoted their activities. Not only duets, but also arias, where the violin plays a great role, are present in the repertoire. In 2002 graduating the class of the strings of music college, she entered state conservatory of Yerevan after Komitas, jazz-vocal class. In 2005 she graduated it.

Duet

In 2000 Inga and Anush entered State Song Theatre of Armenia, A.Grigoryan at the head. Both of them performed national, ethnic songs and songs written by A.Grigoryan and Anush. They sang in many cities of Armenia as soloists of song theatre.

In 2002 September they left for USA on concert tours with soloists of song theatre. After the concerts at “Alex” theatre in Los Angeles, sisters immediately got an offer to appear on the same stage with solo concerts. The song theatre left for Tehran with the same program after the concerts in USA.
In 2002 Armenian variety song festival “Golden Lyre 2002” congratulated Anush and Inga Arshakyanner in “Sympathy of audience” nomination.

In 2003 February solo concert program “Seasons of life” was prepared, the producer of which was A.Grigoryan. Ethnic, national, modern songs were included in the musical performance, as well as songs to the accompaniment of violin, guitar and piano.

In 2003 March the solo concerts of Anush and Inga Arshakyanner took place in overcrowded halls of “Alex” theatre. At the same time the ceremony of their first disk “We and our mountains” occurred.
This was followed by invitations to appear on the stage with the same program in New York, Toronto, Argentina and Paris.

They deserved laudation and admiration of RA guests of high rank during many governmental concerts.
In 2003 May Inga and Anush were invited to great celebration organized on the occasion of 79th anniversary of Sharl Aznavour, who had arrived to homeland. Later on the sisters were honored to be present on Aznavour’s each visit.

In 2003 September they were again on the stage of “Alex” theatre of Los Angeles with the soloists of song theatre.

They have left the song theatre staff since 2003 November and began working on their own.

In 2003 Inga and Anush Arshakyanner’s “I don’t find my way” song was announced the best one of the year during Armenian modern song competition festival “Golden Lyre 2003”. Words by: V.Andreasyan, music by: A.Arshakyan.

In 2004 “Tamzara”, the elect of Armenian national songs, by Arshakyanner’s performance, was announced the best one during Armenian modern song competition festival “Golden Lyre 2004”.
In 2004, May 22 their album “We and our mountains” was announced the best women pop retro album of the year during “Armenian Music Awards” award-giving ceremony that took place in Hollywood.

In 2004 August 14-22 they took part in the inauguration of “One nation, one culture” festival.

While participating in many governmental concerts, they have associated with RA guests of honor: Juri Bashmet, L.Putina, Sh.Aznavour, B.Shirak and other persons of high rank, representing Armenian national culture.

In 2004, October 1 A.Arshakyan was awarded with the second prize during republican competition festival of the national song and dance after Henry Mangasaryan in the nomination of development of national music, instrumental and individual performance.

In 2004, November 27 Inga and Anush’s first video clip of “Tamzara” national song was made, the development by: Anush Arshakyan, instrumentation by: Ara Torosyan (Murzik), the producer of the clip was A.Vardanyan.

In 2004, December 21 RA Prime Minister A.Margaryan expressed his gratitude to Arshakyan sisters for their participation in the implementation of State youth policy.

In 2005 Inga and Anush Arshakyanner were awarded with youth prize in the field of music by the president of the republic for the manifestation of the development, presentation and high performance skills of Armenian national song.

Since 2005, July they have been collaborating with “SC Records” producering center.
